Aspirants Raise Concerns Over JKP Telecommunication and Photography Exam Results

Candidates have recently made significant allegations of irregularities and a lack of transparency in the selection process following the release of the results for the JKP Constable Telecommunication and Photography exams by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB).

A group of aspirants spoke to the Srinagar-based news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC), expressing their shock that some candidates who excelled in the Telecommunication and Photography exams had previously received alarmingly low scores—some even in the negative range—on the earlier JKP (Executive/Armed/SDRF) exam, which they deemed easier.

“How can someone who scored zero or negative marks in a simpler exam suddenly perform well in a more challenging and technical one? This doesn’t make sense and undermines fairness,” one candidate remarked. Another added, “It feels like our efforts have been mocked. The integrity of this process is clearly compromised, and we deserve answers.”

The candidates are calling on former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to step in, revoke the results, and administer a fresh, impartial test after accusing the JKSSB of endangering their futures.

On social media, PDP leader Iltija Mufti expressed similar worries, saying, "JKSSB is continuing to jeopardize the future of J&K's youth." Significant differences exist between the JKP Telecommunications exam and previous constable exams, where "toppers" did poorly. The government has conveniently avoided accountability after gaining power on grand promises.

One candidate said, "We are disheartened and feel betrayed," underscoring the emotional toll of this dispute. The trust in the system will disintegrate if merit is disregarded.

In order to rebuild public trust, the impacted applicants are requesting a transparent hiring process and an immediate probe into the purported inconsistencies.

Exams for 4,002 positions were held on December 1, 8, and 22, 2024, making this the first significant recruiting drive since 2019. A written exam is part of the selection process, and then there are medical and physical examinations.
