Council of Ministers in the Union territory of jammu and kashmir... ‼️
  • As per the jammu and kashmir reorganisation act, there shall be a council of ministers consisting of not more than ten percent of thr total number of members in the legislative Assembly, with chief minister at the head to aim and advice the Lt. Governor in the exercise of his function.. 

  • The strength of the council of ministers has been fixed at 10% of the total number of members in the legislative assembly. 

  • So, the assembly of the Union territory of jammu and kashmir with 90 MLA's will only have 9 Ministers  of all ranks including cabinet minister, minister of state ( with independent charge) and minister of state.. 

  • Matters related to land, that is to say, right in or over land, land tenures,   including the relation of landlord and and tenant and the collection of rents, transfer and alienation of agriculture land, and improvement and agriculture loans will be under the domain of the elected government of Union territory of jammu and kashmir... 

  • Land revenue, including the assessment and collection of revenue, maintenance of land records, survey for revenue purposes and records of right and alienation of revenues will also come under the purview of the elected government of Union territory of jammu and kashmir... 

  • The council of ministers headed by the chief minister is collective responsible of the legislative Assembly. 

The ministers swim and sink together. A vote of no confidence against any minister automatically leads to the resignation of the entire council.... 

Legislative Council Abolished in jammu and kashmir... 
  • Once dominating news for setting debates and sticky discourses for 70 years the jammu and kashmir legislative Council, the upper house of the state legislative Assembly, has been abolished as per section 57 of the jammu and kashmir Reorganisation act.... 

  • All the staff members of the legislative Council were asked to report s in the general Administrative department. 

  • The council has discussed and passed sticky bills land to tiller law Resettlement Bills etc. 

  • The secretary of the legislative Council was directed to transfer all records pertaining to the council Secretariat including related legislative business to the department of law, justice and parliamentary Affairs.. 

  • The council which had a strength of 36 members, used to form a part of the electoral college for the Raj sabha election's..

  • The tenure of all the current members of legislative Council ( MLC's) has also end to an end... 

  • The vehicle purchased for the legislative Council from time to time went transferred to the state Motor Garages... 
  • Representation of the Union Territory of jammu and kashmir in Parliament. 

  • As per new arrangement, the Union territory of jammu and kashmir will have five Mps in the lok sabha election's ( the lower house) and four Mps in the Raj sabha ( the upper house) . 
  • The representation of the Union territory of jammu and kashmir in the parliament is similar to the arrangement that was worked out from 1954 to 1966 between the government of india and jammu and kashmir through presidential orders. 
Common Highcourt of Union territory of jammu and kashmir and ladakh. ... 

As per the jammu and kashmir Reorganisation act, the jammu and kashmir Highcourt will be the common court for the two Union territory of jammu and kashmir and ladakh. 
  • According to the Act, judges of the high court of jammu and kashmir for the erstwhile state of jammu and kashmir holding office immediately before the appointed day ( October 31 , 2019) shall before on that day the judges of the common highcourt. 
  • It is important to mention here that the expenditure in respect of salaries and allowance of the judges of the common highcourt shall be allocated amongst the Union territory of jammu and kashmir and ladakh on the basis of population ratio.. 
  • The present sanctioned strength of the high court is 17 judges including 13 permanent judges and 4 Additional judges.. 
  • From may to October , the chief justice and the administrative wing of highcourt shifts to srinagar and from November to April', the high court is at jammu.. 
  • However court section of both the jammu and srinagar wings of the high court function throughout the year.....

  • Advocate general is the highest law officer of the Union territory of jammu and kashmir..

  •  
  • He is appointed  by the Lt. Governor and holds office during his pleasure. 

  • Only a person qualified to be a judge of the high court can be appointed to the post of the advocate General.. 
  • The duty of advocate general is to give advice to the government of the Union territory upon such legal matters and to perform such other duties of legal character, as may from time to time be referred or assigned to him by the government.. 

  • In the performance of his duties, the advocate general shall have the right of audience in all court's in the Union territory of jammu and kashmir.. 

The advocate General receives such remuneration as the Lt. Governor may determine...
