That the highest decadal growth of population between 2001 and 2011 was recorded in Meghalaya (27.9%) followed by Arunachal pardesh (26.0%) Bihar (25.4) and jammu and Kashmir (23.6) the decadal growth rate in mizoram was 23.5 percent Rajasthan 21.3% M. p 21.3% and Uttar pardesh 20.2%

It may seen from table that among the largest state Bihar, has the highest density of (1106) per square km followed by west Bengal ( 1028 ) , Kerala (860) and uttar pradesh (829) Arunachal pardesh has the lowest density (17 per square km) followed by Mizoram 52 , sikkim 86 and jammu and Kashmir 124 person square km..
Among the Union territories of Delhi with a density of 11320 persons sq km has the highest density of population, while Andaman and Nicobar islands with a density of 46 persons per sq km has the lowest density
