In jammu and Kashmir there are four main national highway.... 

NH 1A..NH  1B .. NH  1C  NH   1D 

It's important to mention that after renumbering af all the national highways in the year of 2010 the number s of above mentioned national highways have changed... 

National Highways 1A 

It connects the Kashmir valley with jammu and the rest of india.. 

The northern terminal is in uri ( jammu and Kashmir)  and the southern terminal is in jalandar Punjab.. 

The famous jawahar tunnel that connects jammu with the Kashmir valley across the pir panjal range falls enroute.... 

The total length of NH 1A is 663 km

It is pertinent to mention that NH 1A is now part of NH 44...

National highway 1B

National highway 1B is entirely within jammu and Kashmir and links batora with kambal... 

The place doda, kishtwar and sinthan pass falls enroute.... 

The total length of NH 1 B is 274..km


3 National highway 1C 

It is a short national highway covering a distance of 8 km between domail and katra... Recently it has been remained as national highway 144


4 National highway 1 D 

It is also known as srinagar leh highway and connects Srinagar to leh in ladakh ut. 

It is maintained by projects vinayak of the Border  Road organization... 

The two highest passes on national highway 1 D include Fotu la and zoji la

National highway 1D  is now part of national highway 1......
