INDIAN NATIONAL MOVEMENT IMPORTANT FOR JKSSB, SSC..

Indian National movement important for All competitive exams..... 

 In the early days of the 20th century a number of stirring events affected indias deeply. One of these was the Russo Japanese war 1904-1905 ..indias where starting under the treatment they where receiving at the hands of the British, and there was bitterness over the European attitude of racial superiority. So the victory of a small Asian country over the large empire was greeted with surprise and enthusiasm. News of the humiliating treatment given to indias in south Africa had also been galling. Now India began to hear with Admiration of the struggle of the indians there under the leadership of Gandhi.... And of a new method     satyagraha with which Gandhi had choosen to defy the unjust laws of South Africa government against indians and other asians. Indians felt a growing pride in this effort of their countrymen countrymen overseas and India money began pouring in the South Africa to help there cause.. 

There were reasons for dissatisfaction at home. India had at the time a particularly autocratic viceroy, Lord Curzon, whose policies were making him unpopular and causing a great deal of resentment.. The amended offical secrets act of 1904 made criticism in the news paper a punishable offence if it were" Likely to bring the govt or constitutional authority into suspension are contempt. " People beloved this act interfered with civil liberties. His offical universities act aimed at government control of higher education. And his comments on Indian character enraged public opinion. Speaking on the budget proposal of 1904 He said : " The highest rank of civil employment in India must as a general rule be held by english men for the reason that they possess, partly by heredity, partly by upbringing, partly by education.., the knowledge of the principles of govt, the habits of mind, the vigour of character, which are essential for the task. ": 

And addressing the convocation of calcutta university moral codes of the west before it had been similarly honoured in the east where Craftiness and diplomatic skill have always been held in much repute. " He ended his speech by denying there was any such thing as an Indian nation he did not seem to realize the hostility his statement s and  actions where arousing and he had greatly under estimated the growing nationalist Fervour when he made his famous judgement in a letter to the secretary of state in 1900...." My own feeling is that congress is Torturing to it's fall,  and on of my great ambitions while in India is to assist it to a peaceful demise.. "

Nothing could have been further from fact, for the congress was about to enter a new militant phase of agitation, and this began when Lord Curzan decided, on the plea of more efficient administration, to partiton Bengal.........
